This medal was chosen as the 103rd issue of the prestigious Society of Medalists series. The obverse bears a mountain lion. Around in bold letters, PRESERVE OUR HERITAGE; below, LACI de GERENDAY. The reverse bears forest creatures on a riverbank.
In the brochure accompanying this medal Laci de Gerenday called for the preservation of uncultivated land as well as protection of the animals living in such areas, including potentially dangerous species such as the cougar.
For this issue, the Medallic Art Company is reported to have struck 750 medals in bronze.
